Postpartum.

Life has slowed down to being spent at home most days. We are getting comfortable leaving the house every now and then, but we try not to go too far. Thankfully our friends are willing to visit us at home!

We've had more visits from friends than I anticipated we would - Brandon, Tracy, and Tony have all visited us in the past month. It's been great inviting them into our home and seeing them interact with Liam!

My 6 week postpartum check up went incredibly well! The midwife said she couldn't even tell I gave birth, haha. I do feel like my postpartum experience was much easier than I anticipated and I healed very quickly. Hopefully the trend continues with each following pregnancy and birth! I'll be optimistic for now.

We also hired cleaners and I got a massage one weekend which was very relaxing after giving birth and weeks of sleep deprivation.

My friend, Erin  give birth to a baby girl a couple weeks ago, so we stopped by her house to deliver some food and treats for the family. She has two other kids and I thought some food might help out and they all adjust to the newest family member.

It's been a real joy to have this time off work to focus on family and my home.

While I am so so happy and feel lucky to be a mom, the newborn phase has definitely caught up to me. Everything felt much easier than I expected at first, but after weeks of little sleep and still trying to figure out why the baby is crying, I am really starting to look forward to him being just a little bit older and more independent. I didn't expect to feel this way. But I do think that when Liam is able to better communicate and even be on his own, I will "enjoy" him more.

I've joined a couple mom groups since I have the time! One group meets about twice a month at my doula's house. I've appreciated meeting a couple other moms from there and I hope we get together again soon. The second group was arranged by my friend, Kori and we get together once a week. It's a wonderful excuse to leave the house because otherwise I might not.

Over the weekend, we took Liam to the local duck pond and then we ran in the local color run! Tony came down for it too! It's always a great time to see him. He is one of the few people I miss when he's away.

This week we start Christmas planning to get ahead since I have the time now!

Until next time....
